Spawn: Todd McFarlane Won’t Give Up Creative Control Over Film Reboot.July 11, 2017
Fans have been waiting ages for the new Spawn film to come out or be put out in either a continuation or even a reboot and we were promised with the later by Todd McFarlane or the creator.
Things were looking extremely well for the reboot ever since it was announced last year. We've been getting much needed feedback from McFarlane and other things. However, it seem that the film just may hit an unsuspecting snag.
The guys at Syfy Wire revealed that McFarlane claimed that the slow progress isn’t down to a lack of interest, but rather because he is only prepared to move forward if he can retain full creative control.
“So I’m going, ‘I’m not selling it but if you want to see the rough draft, I’ll send it to you, But just so everybody knows, I write, produce, direct, non-negotiable,'” said McFarlane, revealing that he has fielded calls from several interested parties. “I wouldn’t ask to be a newbie director on a script that was going to have an eighty million budget for it. Why? Because as a CEO of my own corporation, I wouldn’t take that deal. I wouldn’t stick out $80 million and go, ‘they’re going to put a rookie and he’s going to basically be in charge of it.’ So I’ve created this tight little one that I keep saying, I think I can shoot it for ten.”
It may be a much longer time before we see the Spawn film. Its bad enough we've been getting promised a film since the 90s and haven’t gotten one until now. Now, we have to deal with legal issues. But, this is McFarlane's likely hood and creation and I don't blame him.
