Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant Sequel Might be canceled.July 27, 2017
Ridley Scott's very own Alien: Covenant was entertaining to some and disappointing to others. The disappointment came more so how the film was extremely short and many fans expected to see many more Xenomorphs than the film actually shown.
Still, the film was a hit with fans and Ridley Scott even planned on making the next film in the new series to the prequel of the Alien series. It seems that the next Alien film after 'Covenant' just may not be happening or more so may be canceled. It was revealed by THR that even though fans sort of liked the film, the film is currently being looked at or viewed as a flop by 20th Century Fox, after its theatrical run pulled just $232M worldwide on a budget of $100M. In the light of this unfortunate event, its being reported that Ridley Scott next two sequels to Alien: Covenant may get outright canceled or put in a choke hold for lack of a better and more enlightening term.
The 'Alien: Covenant' film was supposed to tie in loose ends of Scott's last film known as 'Prometheus.' The next film was set to follow the Engineers taking notice of the devastation caused by Michael Fassbender's David on the Engineer home world:
"There will be three or four different players coming into investigate,” Scott said, “One of which will be the Engineers arriving back to find their planet decimated... Where we go next is obvious."
This storyline didn't really sit well with fans and didn't get their attention really at all. It was also stated that if Scott does continue the film series, he will dig deep and give the next films his all and also add a hard hitting story dealing with the Xenomorphs that has substance.
