Last week, the world
had lost one of the great pioneers of adult entertainment or
American Entertainment in general, Hugh Hefner. Well in light of
his death, we have a new update that may be acceptable to many fans
and people who knew the late great icon the same. It was revealed
that actor Jared Leto will be in the biopic for the late great
Playboy founder that will be helmed by director Brett Ratner (Rush
Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand).
The film is being
set up by Ratner's very own RatPac Entertainment after rights to
Hefner's life became a free for all after the death of producer
Jerry Weintraub. Ratner has been reportedly eyeing a Hefner biopic
since back in 2007, which is about the same time Iron Man himself
Robert Downey Jr. was rumored to be attached, and now he settled on
Jared Leto as the right man for the job to portray Hefner. In an
interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ratner spoke about why he
chose Jared to play the icon:
“Jared is an old
friend. When he heard I got the rights to Hef’s story, he told me,
‘I want to play him. I want to understand him.’ And I really
believe Jared can do it. He’s one of the great actors of
Leto has already
shown how he can immerse himself in other roles like when he did it
for his role as the Joker in 'Suicide Squad' and like he will in
'Suicide Squad 2' and he has done in 'Blade Runner 2049'. Leto
playing Hefner should be easy work even though the late great icon
is much more than that.
