Sensitive Skin :
This is the most delicate of all skin types, it may be either dry or oily but will react adversely to harsh soaps, detergents, extreme cold and heat and sometimes even natural ingredients. This type of skin gets easily irritated and is prone to broken veins and redness. Sensitive skin may easily develop allergic reactions to the most common of things and has to be handled with care. This skin type cannot be experimented with and once you know what’s good for your skin just stick to it. Do not be led by fancy cosmetics and fresh arrivals on the tempting cosmetic counters and be very gentle with your skin.
Sensitive Skin’s Cleansing :
Since this kind of skin is prone to rashes and gets affected easily due to internal and external changes, it is important to use very mild cleansing ingredients. You can cleanse the skin with a few drops of coconut oil and wipe off with a moist cotton wool or if your skin is more on the oily side it would be best cleanse it with rose water. This can be used as a cleanser cum toner.
Sensitive Skin’s Moisturizing and Toning :
Sensitive skin can be massaged and moisturized with natural fruit juices. The best would be to combine watermelon juice, coconut water and cucumber juice and store it in a bottle. After cleansing, add 1 teaspoon of honey in one of these juices and massage gently into the skin. You can make a gentle tan face mask which has toning properties in it. Take 2 tablespoons of oatmeals, the juice of 1 lemon, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon fullers earth. Mix together these ingredients with cold milk to make a paste and apply. Leave on for 20 minutes and scrub off with tepid water. Sensitive skin requires regular gentle care so don’t be harsh towards it.
Combination Skin :
This is a peculiar but one of the most common skin types, this type of skin has a greasy area which is found on the forehead, nose and chin, i.e., T-zone and the rest of the area is normal to dry. As the T-zone is very often identified with open pores, blackheads, whiteheads and even pimples and has to be kept scrupulously clean while the other areas like cheeks, neck and the area around the eyes have to be moisturized. The combination skin has to be treated like two separate skin types and this can be done very easily by keeping a clear cut skin routine. Many women become lazy and start treating this type of skin like an oily or dry one for convenience’s sake and to avoid the botheration of being extra careful. This attitude can cause total havoc for this skin.
Combination Skin’s Cleansing :
One has to create the perfect cleansing programme for this skin type by reducing the oilness of the greasy parts and moisturizing the dry areas. Clean the dry areas with cotton wool dipped in cold milk and the oily areas with a camphor lotion. Infact if the T-zone is very oily and prone to blackheads and whiteheads, the best thing to do would be to use cleansing granules made with the following things, 1 tablespoon rice powder, 1 tablespoon fullers earth, 1 tablespoon orange peel powder, 1 tablespoon lemon peel powder. Mix the required quantity with rose water and scrub on the oily areas gently in circular motion and wash with cold water.
Combination Skin’s Moisturizing and toning :
The combination skins need to moisturize the dry areas carefully. Take 1 teaspoon of fresh cream or honey and massage into the dry patches. Leave for 10 minutes and wash off. Tone the entire face by wiping with rose water. A face mask is important and you can use kaolin clay to which you have added lemon juice, honey and 1 egg. Apply all over face and let dry. Wash off with tepid water and rub a rose water ice cube on the oily areas. An exfoliating face scrub made of orange peel powder and rice powder and mixed with rose water is excellent for Combination Skin.
