The DC Universe has been going through a lot of
different changes recently with the New 52. However, we have a new
update for you pertaining to their character Wonder Women or her
respective Universe. It was revealed that Wonder Woman has a twin
sister named Nubia, who is, in fact, black just like the former
African Empire that stretched from Egypt all the way through
Ethiopia and more.
According to the DC lore, Nubia was created or
first appeared in 1973 out of the same clay that was used to make
Diana before she was changed and said to be the daughter of Zeus in
the New 52. Nubia's clay was unsurprisingly black and she was
formed by the goddess Aphrodite, however, from this point, her
story gets a little wild. Nubia is stolen at birth by Mars, the God
of War, and trained by him to become a master hand-to-hand
combatant. In fact, when she was introduced in Wonder Woman Vol. 1
#204, she beat Diana in battle, and only stopped when she met her
sister at sword point.
In the latest edition of the DC multiverse, Nubia
rules as the Wonder Woman on Earth-23. However, her resume is a bit
more extensive. Aside from having superhuman everything, she once
was a sole guardian of the River Styx, that is also known as hell,
and also ruled Floating Island, which is a community of all men.
Nubia is suggested to be in a position akin to Queen Hippolyta, the
queen of the Amazons and Wonder Woman. If we take a look at Wonder
Woman and what she is capable of, I would say that Nubia is a force
to be reckoned with.
Many think that she should also be featured in
the DC Cinematic Universe and from the success of Wonder Woman, I
think it would do some good.
