Preparing for liposuction can be daunting. From considering the risks and benefits of awake liposuction, making sure you have all the necessary supplies on hand, to what type of clothing you should wear the day of your procedure – there’s a lot to take into consideration. With so much to think about, it’s easy to forget something important or get overwhelmed. To make things easier, here is a checklist with everything you need to do before your liposuction surgery.

Before we dive into the checklist, let’s talk about the benefits of awake liposuction. Awake liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that uses local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia, meaning you remain conscious during the operation. This gives patients more control over their outcome and allows them to communicate their desires directly with their surgeon if they feel uncomfortable at any time during the procedure. As a bonus, awake liposuction also has a shorter recovery period than traditional methods.

Medical Clearances

The first step in preparing for your liposuction is getting medical clearances from your doctor. Your doctor will assess your overall health status and ensure it’s safe for you to undergo this type of surgical procedure. They may also order some lab tests or imaging studies such as an MRI or CT scan if needed. Additionally, they may also recommend lifestyle changes such as eating better and exercising regularly prior to undergoing surgery as well as provide guidelines on how soon after surgery you should resume physical activities like working out or running errands again.

Supplies Needed

Once your doctor has given you the all-clear, it’s time to start gathering all the supplies you’ll need for your surgery, including bandages, gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes and cotton buds, among other items recommended by your plastic surgeon. You’ll want to have these items readily available when you get home after your operation so that you can properly care for the incision sites and ensure proper healing throughout your recovery without any complications arising in the future.

Clothing choices

What clothes should you wear on the day of your liposuction? It’s best to stick to loose-fitting clothes, such as jogging bottoms or leggings, which can be easily removed when lying on the operating table without any fuss (and to avoid embarrassment!). You should also avoid wearing jewellery or metal accessories as they may interfere with the monitoring equipment used during surgery.

Post-operative plans & dietary considerations

It’s important to have a plan in place ahead of time about who will pick up any post-operative medication prescribed by the surgeon, who will drive you home after treatment, and what foods are OK/not OK to eat during the recovery period (e.g. no dairy products!). For dietary considerations in particular, it’s best to start hydrating before surgery by drinking plenty of water every day until the operation – this will help promote healthy body functions throughout the process!

Mental preparation & care planning

Lipo isn’t just about physical preparation; mental preparation is just as important – if not more so – than physical preparation! Make sure you know exactly what kind of results you expect from your lipo and make a care plan, outlining how long it may take before you can resume daily activities such as work or school. Set realistic expectations: although most people experience minimal pain post-operatively, there may still be some discomfort or swelling around the treated areas – give yourself plenty of time to heal properly, so don’t push yourself too hard! Finally, discuss any feelings of anxiety with your doctor beforehand – remember that there are ways to manage anxiety, including talking to a counselor or therapist if necessary!

Follow-up appointments arranged & questions answered

Finally, set up follow-up appointments right away so that surgeons will be able to monitor progress over time, minimizing the risk of potential complications due to improper healing patterns; additionally, ask questions during these visits to ensure understanding of every aspect of the post-operative care regime put in place to ensure successful journey towards desired body shape result!
