Star Wars: Writer Fired for Being too Political By Marvel.
October 13, 2018
It has been reported that NY Times bestselling
writer and former writer for Marvel Comics, Chuck Wendig, has been
fired from the company.
Wending decided to take to Twitter and revealed
this update, which he stated "So, here’s a thing that has happened
– I just got fired from Marvel. Taken off issues 4 and 5 of SHADOW
OF VADER, and taken off an as-yet-unannounced SW book. This might
be a long thread, so apologies in
Wending continued with "And then we announced
SHADOW OF VADERjuuuuustlast weekend, and people were excited, and I
thought everything was good. I was not made aware of any issues,
and my online self-has always been my online self, so. Except,
Wendig closed his update out while adding just
why exactly he was fired "Today I got the call. I’m fired. Because
of the negativity and vulgarity that my tweets bring. Seriously,
that’s what Mark, the editor said. It was too much politics, too
much vulgarity, too much negativity on my
Wending being fired because he tried to write
'Star Wars' into being political is extremely strange. 'Star Wars'
was created during a political era just coming off the Vietnam War,
the Civil Rights Movement, and many other real-world issues.
Creator George Lucas constantly talked about how he purposely added
politics to Star Wars and wanted to make its involvement
The whole series has politics all through
it. I mean the prequels featured the Senate and
Democracy, which is politics and then the prequels featured it with
the Empire and both were extremely political
This is truly odd
