Bath Tips For Dry And Oily Skin

Bathing is very essential for the skin and yet is neglected by many women. Taking out some time to care for one’s beauty routine. Most women follow a five minutes shower ritual and do not even remember when was the last time they actually enjoyed having a bath. It is done like a monotonous, mechanical routine that goes along with other boring household chores like washing clothes, cleaning and cooking.

Create time for yourself with or without your partner, in the bathroom. I feel a bathroom needs to reflect character just like any other room in the house. This is one place which is very private and you have yourself to you completely. Not many women spend much time thinking about their bathroom interiors and it is a pity for even the dingiest of bathrooms can be brought to life with a little thought and creativity.

Decorate your bathroom with colors of your choice, bright happy colors or soft pastels. Full sized mirrors, lush green plants or even dried pot. Fragrant body massage oils, jute massage mittens, sponges, natural loofahs, stone scrubs for those aching feet, pumice stones, back brushes, natural bath bags, dried herbs and flowers for your bathtub, gigantic soft towels are all basic essentials for bathing besides your other toiletries.

Your face is not the only important part of your skin, the entire body requires your undivided attention and loving care to make it smile and feel petal smooth.

Bathe correctly. Most women prefer either very hot or very cold water but it should be neither of these extremes. A warm soapy bath tub with lots of rose petals, 2 tablespoons milk powder and 2 tablespoons of lavender oil feels like pure luxury on dry, tired skin.

You can make our own bath bags at home and store them in colorful airtight porcelain or colored glass containers. These bath bags are excellent for shower lovers as they are easy to use and convenient to keep. All the bath bags have a shelf life of 4 weeks.

Bath Bag For Dry Skin :

  • 1 tbsp milk powder
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tbsp oatmeal
  • 1 drop sandalwood oil
  • Dried lemon peel powder

Mix all the ingredients together and just put a teaspoon of the mixture in small pieces of muslin cloth and tie each piece tightly with ribbons or string. Store in an airtight container and use whenever required. Rub the bath bag all over the body when bathing and feel how smooth, soft and clean the skin becomes. These bath bags should be discarded after a single use.

Bath Bag For Oily Skin :

  • 2 tbsp orange peel powder
  • 2 tbsp rice powder
  • 2 tbsp mint leaves, powdered
  • 2 tbsp lemon oil
  • 4 tbsp kaolin clay

Mix together all the ingredients and wrap in a muslin cloth, tied with a ribbon or natural thread like jute or coir rope, store in an airtight jar. Scrub all over the face and body. You will feel fresh, fragrant and clean all over. Most women forget that it is not just their faces that require exfoliating but the entire body. Dead skin can accumulate on any part of the body and it is important to scrub the body until it feels squeaky clean and smooth. You can keep a jar of your favorite scrub on a bathroom shelf and use a handful every time you bathe along with a natural loofah or jute mitten. Always remember that special attention should be given to specific areas like the knees, thighs, buttocks and heels. These usually have more dead skin accumulations and are always in need of attention.

Causes Of Acne And Its Home Remedies

Most women tend to be silent about their skin problems until the problem increases and it cannot be ignored anymore. It is like having a headache and hoping against hope that it will disappear on its own without any help. It will not go away so you have to do something about it. Most of the specific problems that we are going to deal with are those which crop up from time to time. There is nothing known as a permanent skin problem and if you really look after your skin you can solve most of them.

Acne :

This is one of the most distressing and depressing problems faced mostly by young women. It is usually a result of hormonal changes and an irregular and increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. Overactive sebaceous glands lead to a greasy looking skin and thickening of the pores. They become blocked and after a while from pimples. Many times these get infected, become red and have pus in them. Keeping your skin scrupulously clean is the magic word and it is important that you do not touch or squeeze the pimples. I knew of a young girl who, once she started her treatment, kept touching the pimples every five minutes to see if they were still there. They do not disappear so easily and it takes time, a very disciplined lifestyle and a regular skin care routine to clear it up.

Acne is a common teenage problem. A clean stomach and regular bowel movements are very important to keep the skin clear and I would advise most teenagers to be careful about this. Constipation must be avoided at all cost and the easiest way to do so is by taking lots of green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, beans, peas, fresh fenugreek, lettuce, etc. Raw foods are a must and a salad and fruits should be served at the beginning of every meal. The reason why we are emphasizing salads and fruits at the beginning is that these raw foods will fill your stomach and there will be little appetite left for the rest of the items. Also important is the fact that raw foods are easily digestible and lessen the chances of constipation.

Drink at least ten to twelve glasses of water every day and avoid surgery foods, fried stuff and aerated drinks. Please avoid all junk food. Never make exceptions when you are depressed. I have come across many people who try to make themselves happier by eating all the wrong things – Sweets, chocolates, junk foods, regretting it later. Even if you do give in to temptation and tend to go overboard one day, you must make sure that you resist all further temptations for the following week. Go in for regular skin cleaning sittings at a good professional salon where the beauticians know what the skin is all about. So many people have come to me after having ‘Peeling’ done on their acne and ending up worse than before.

Peeling and scrubbing is to be avoided in the case of pus infected acne or pimples as it will only aggravate the infection. Use natural clay absorbing face packs after cleaning the skin with ice cold rose water. An excellent remedy for acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water. Another effective remedy can be prepared by mixing 2 tablespoons neem paste with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and 2 tablespoons mint paste and then used as a face pack.

Exercise is a must to improve blood circulation. You will see the result of a regular exercise programme being reflected in the way your skin looks. Whenever you return from an exercise work out, rub an ice cube all over the face and neck. Many times dandruff may cause acne especially when the acne is more prominent on the forehead and cheeks. For this it is important that the dandruff be treated alongside. Keep hair away from the face and those of you who enjoy hot oil head massages must wash their hair after a couple of hours and not leave it on overnight.

Acne must be dealt with extremely carefully and there is no harm in young mothers trying to make their teenage children more aware of how to take care of their skin from an early age. I would definitely prevent the anguish and torment most teenagers go through.

We Are Going To Madrid

Diane

Read Time:2 Minute, 1 Second

Madrid is one of the few cities in Europe that Daan & I both have never been to, and both really want to go to. But us visiting this Spanish city will soon be reality: This november we will go there for a couple of days. I am so so excited to still go on a vacation after working the entire summer. I am looking forward to it a lot, and – ‘prevacationfunfreak’ that I am – I am allready deciding on where to go and what do to. Here’s is the list of things that are on that list at the moment.

El Rastro

While checking Madrid’s biggest hotspots online, I quickly came accros the weekly flea market El Rastro. Every sunday, this huge flea market takes place. From what I have read there is a great atmosphere, and both locals and tourist love the market. I guess this is the perfect sunday morning activity; casually strolling around the market.

Parque del Retiro

Another perfect activity for a sunday: walking around the biggest park of Madrid, Parque del Retiro. I believe it is huge, and quite busy during the weekend. I can allready see us grabbing lunch somewhere to go and enjoy it anywhere in this park.

Mercado de San Miguel

I love foodmarkets, and where better to go to one than in another country, with other food traditions. Mercado de San Miguel is a big one, with all kinds of food. I am looking forward to taste all kinds of (Spanish) tapas and little bites over here.

Stadium tour

Daan is a HUGE soccer fan, and Madrid obviously is a great city for soccer fans. We wanted to go to a game of either one of the two clubs, but apparently it was almost impossible to get tickets. Really too bad, since we were looking forward to it a lot. But of course we still be doing a stadium tour in at least one of the stadiums.

Eat Churros

There is something about Churros that makes me love them. I was once told that Spanish people eat these for breakfast a lot. Now, I don’t believe that, but I do know that these things are y-u-m-m-y. I have had them before on the Dutch carnavals, but obviously I need to have them in Spain too.

Have you ever been to Madrid? Do you have any recommendations for me?
