What Are Laser Hair Removal And Its Precautions?

Laser hair removal is removing unwanted hair from specific areas of the body by passing an intense, narrow beam of light through them. Laser hair removal was developed in 1985 and became popular around 1990 as a non-invasive alternative to waxing, electrolysis, and other usually painful or difficult methods. The laser uses light energy to heat unwanted hairs on the skin’s surface and destroys them.

Laser treatment typically takes about 10 minutes per session over two to three sessions one week apart.  Many people who choose the millburn laser center for various parts of their bodies report a permanent reduction in hair growth for years afterward or even total clearance after a few sessions. Also, after conducting the process, you need to look for the various precautions suggested below.

  • Protect The Removed Hair Area From Sun

While laser treatment is pretty safe, it isn’t a good idea to expose the area to the sun for a few days. This is because the skin where the hair is removed becomes more prone to sunburns and skin damage.

  • Avoid Abrasion

You must avoid activities that can exfoliate or irritate the area. That means no rubbing, shaving, pulling, or scrubbing for about a week. After that, you can continue to wash with a gentle cleanser. Dab on some calamine lotion if the treated area becomes irritated or itchy for relief.

  • Keep Your Routine Low-Key

Keep your routine low-key and stress-free until you see new hair growth about a month after your treatment. Avoid getting caught in an embarrassing situation where you need to explain how many sessions you’ve had. It is nice to have friends and family patiently waiting for your routine to return.

  • Avoid Contact With Wind

Avoid activities that expose the treated area to wind during the first few months after your treatment, especially at high altitudes or near a powerful wind source (such as blowing sand or a jet engine). If there is wind, hair might travel from the area where the treatment was done into the clinical area and interfere with the proper diagnosis and monitoring of your condition.

  • Avoid Stress

Avoid anything that may cause stress or anxiety to the area near the treatment area. Try not to worry about having a full head of hair again. There are times when the hair might sprout after the treatment, regardless of how long it takes.

  • Check With Your Doctor Before Lifting Some Weight

It is natural to want to perform a few light exercises after laser treatment, so try lifting a few small items such as your bag or small children, but avoid heavy lifting for a while after treatment if you have not already started exercising regularly.

Overall

In most laser hair removal cases, permanent hair reduction can be achieved through laser treatment. Permanent hair reduction tends to occur after at least two sessions without any further treatment. While there is no guarantee that permanent hair reduction will occur, it does give you a great chance to achieve a more natural look.
