Netflix Dracula Miniseries Cast its Count

November 28, 2018

There have been an unbelievable amount of incarnations of the famous Romanian native and King of the Vampires, Dracula. The story that had been derived from the real Romanian Prince Vlad "Dracula" Tepes III or Vlad the Impaler who would impale his enemies alive on pikes and dine around the rotting corpses, has had his story told by Bram Stroker aka the original creator of the series many times.

The biggest teller or showing of this character came from and possibly is owned by Universal Studios. Universal is the same studio who was known for casting Bela Lugosi as the count in 1931 and on in their first Dracula film that is of the same name. The mantle was passed throughout the years to the late great Christopher Lee who kept the character lore going to Gary Oldman who gave a phenomenal showing of the blooding loving and powerful king of the damned and undead in the 1990s Bram Stroker's Dracula film.

Others like Gerald Butler, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and more will take up the mantle but the last to do so was none other than Luke Evans who portrayed the Count in Dracula Untold in the 2014 movie of the same name. Now Netflix has decided to make their own miniseries for the Count and it has been revealed that Netflix has cast their Dracula also. Deadline has revealed that Claes Bang has been cast as Count Dracula in the upcoming BBC One/Netflix miniseries Dracula. The series is still in the early stages of development, and no other casting or new cast members to join Claes and the series has been announced.

However, Bang opened up about his excitement in playing the famed Count. He stated this about the whole thing: "Incredible talents of Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and the team responsible for Sherlock." "I’m so excited that I get to dig in to this iconic and super-interesting character. Yes he’s evil, but there’s also so much more to him. He’s charismatic, intelligent, witty, and sexy. I realize that there’s a lot to live up to with all the amazing people that have played him over the years, but I feel so privileged to be taking on this incredible character.”

There are many things that can go wrong in creating a Dracula series. Yet these things that could go wrong are focused on a few key points which would make it easier not to make these mistakes and these things are more so focused on the lore of Dracula. All you have to do is ask about the previous Dracula series that last from 2013 - 2014. The series that starred actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers had tremendous potential. However, there were too many mistakes. For instance, the show had Dracula fighting against humans and being outmatched without no means of outmatching him had to do with his iconic weaknesses to sunlight and other things like was utilized in Dracula Untold. Simple humans were sword fighting with the count and actually holding their own. The Count who can easily rip humans apart with his bare hands. This amongst a few other mishaps with the Count are the only reason why the series didn't go further than one whole year.

Hopefully Netflix and BBC One don't make the same mistakes and critique these mishaps to make your series stronger.

Dracula's Netflix series has no official release date. Stay updated with us as more information is released.
